The Dish That Triggered My Life-long Love Affair With Lentils
I wasn't a huge fan of mom's cooking as a kid. There was however a handful of dishes she prepared to perfection. Lentils with curry and ham hock was one.
Growing up in Saskatchewan means a lot of things - beautiful summers, hard and cold (but fun) winters, being around great people, and having tight-knit families, with a healthy amount of tradition.
My affiliation with lentils is more than just industrial statistics but was a means of survival.
My memories of lentils go back to my earliest memories of smell, to the time when I first became aware of soups, roasts, pies and other things first by their scent wafting through our home and then by what they actually were.
