A whole food plant-based burger patty with red lentils, onion, oats, brown rice, and beets, seasoned with garlic, smoked paprika, cumin, chili powder, mustard, BBQ sauce, and molasses.

2 lb (1 kg) whole red lentils, cooked and drained well
2 Tbsp (30 mL) garlic, minced
2 tsp (10 mL) smoked paprika
2 tsp (10 mL) cumin
1 tsp (5 mL) chili powder
2 tsp (10 mL) kosher salt
2 tsp (10 mL) black pepper, fine ground
2 Tbsp (30 mL) brown mustard
2 Tbsp (30 mL) BBQ sauce
2 Tbsp (30 mL) molasses
½ cup (125 mL) yellow onion, minced
1 cup (250 mL) old fashioned oats, pulsed in food processor
2 ½ cups (625 mL) brown rice, cooked
½ cup (125 mL) pureed beets
Optional - after grilling, brush with sweet soy sauce before serving in a traditional burger style.
